H2I Technologies Launches Its Revolutionary Optoelectronic Human-Machine Interface that Makes Surfaces Interactive



The French company h2i technologies is introducing a new generation of human-machine interface (HMI) using a patented optoelectronic technology. It makes it possible for any surface to be interactive, thus reinventing data entry systems for industrial and medical equipment as well as for household appliances, consumer electronics, multimedia kiosks, and ATMs used by the general public. Traditional push buttons, keyboards, rotating controls, valves and faucets are no longer necessary. Since the year 2000, when it was founded on the basis of technology developed by a French engineering school, h2i technologies has developed and marketed optical data entry systems including monitors, keyboards and tactile pads. These new types of interface using optoelectronic sensors, infrared reflection and multivariable analysis methods have a number of advantages for industrial, medical and consumer electronics equipment manufacturers. They are sturdy and easy to clean, production costs are low and their particularly innovative design enables strong product differentiation.

"h2i developed a reliable, innovative dialog keyboard for our company for use in explosive zones, at a reasonable price," says Mr Racek, manager of the company DelMar APIS that develops gas analyzers for the petrochemicals sector. "h2i technology is innovative, reliable and allows interesting designs while respecting the main constraints of our environment - water, humidity, water vapor, reliability and lifespan," adds Valérie Lebon, head of the R&D project for the Kohler company for whom h2i developed control systems for balneotherapy equipment.

Winner of an award from the French Agency for Innovation, ANVAR (Agence Nationale française pour la VAlorisation de la Recherche), h2i technology is based on the use of optoelectronic sensors and multivariable analysis methods. Designed to meet the requirements of the harshest environments, the interfaces ensure easy cleaning, great resistance to wear (number of keystrokes, seal, resistance to impacts, etc.) and easy product personalization at a particularly low production cost and without need for maintenance, as there are no moving mechanical parts.
