OptoBGA Sensor increases counting accuracy.

Press Release Summary:

Model iC-LQNP has monolithic design that delivers EMI immunity and includes integrated photodiode. Sensitive changes in photocurrent are amplified at first stage, concurrently electronically suppressing photocurrents caused by ambient light measuring over 60 dB @ 100 Hz. Integrated amplifier forms band-pass characteristic, while high-pass filter suppresses constant light and low frequency alternating light. Low-pass filter reduces high frequency interference.

New iC-Haus OptoBGA Sensor Reduces Equipment Wear and Tear, Increases Counting Accuracy Even in High Ambient Light Situations and Extends the Life of Products

CHICAGO, Nov. 11 -- The iC-LQNP is designed as a replacement for less accurate light sensors used in a variety of applications, such as packaging machines, escalators and commercial door openers. Because of its ability to detect very small changes in light intensity, even in high ambient light conditions, its accuracy is significantly increased. The improved accuracy dramatically reduces equipment wear and tear, increases counting accuracy and extends the life of products into which it is designed.

The iC-LQNP replaces photodiodes, amplifiers and filters in applications such as light barriers. The iC-LQNP's monolithic design includes an integrated photodiode and guarantees both high EMI immunity and excellent reliability. Sensitive changes in the photocurrent are amplified at the first stage, concurrently electronically suppressing photocurrents caused by ambient light measuring over 60dB (at 100 Hz). The integrated amplifier forms a band- pass characteristic eliminating the need for costly external components such as active or passive filters. A high-pass filter suppresses constant light and low frequency alternating light, and a low-pass filter reduces high frequency interference. Complementary current outputs offer flexible connectivity.

"Our goal in developing the iC-LQNP Pulse and Light Sensor was to bring to market a high quality and extremely accurate sensor that combines several components into a single overall lower cost solution for our customers. Initial response to this new product proves that this is what the market is now looking for in Pulse and AC Light Sensors," said Dr. Heiner Flocke, iC-Haus President.

The iC-LQNP is available as a 4-pole TO18 metal package with glass lens or flat window, or an extremely small OptoBGA(TM) SMD with each side measuring just 3.4mm in length.

About iC-Haus

Founded in 1984, iC-Haus GmbH is a leading independent German designer and manufacturer of custom ASiC semiconductor solutions. For over 20 years the company has engaged in the design, production and sales of high quality, application-specific iCs to three strategic markets worldwide: Industrial, Automotive and Medical. During this time, iC-Haus has built extensive cell libraries in bipolar, CMOS and BCD technologies, which allow the rapid design and manufacture of quality and cost-effective Sensor-ASiC's, Laser-/Opto- ASiC's and Actuator-ASiC devices. Based on need, the iCs are assembled in either standard plastic packaging or use chip-on-board technology to manufacture complete micro-systems, multi-chip modules or in combination with sensors -- OptoBGAs(TM).
