ASACA Enhances Records Management Capabilities of PD Library with Pegasus' InveStore
High Capacity Storage Solution Offers Data Security and Reliability for Applications in Regulated Markets
GOLDEN, CO (December 2, 2003) - ASACA Corporation, the 30-year high-density storage solutions leader, announced expanded records management capabilities for the company's new Sony Professional Disc for Data (PD) -enabled series of TeraCartÃ' optical libraries today with the addition of InveStore version 4.12 from leading media management software developer, Pegasus Disk Technologies, Inc. Based on Blue Laser technology developed for next-generation consumer Blu-ray optical recorders, Sony's PD is designed to meet the performance and capacity requirements of commercial and professional data storage environments including medical, government, digital publishing and prepress, as well as post- and digital studio production.
Equipped with up to six Sony PD drives, the new durable, random access PD-based libraries can record up to 23.3GB of data on a single PD media cartridge for up to 9.8TB of storage per library with up to 9MB per second write speeds and 11MB per second read. With more than twice the capacity of red laser optical libraries and offering data throughput speeds comparable to tape-based solutions, the new family of libraries requiring no more than a three foot square of floor space.

Pegasus' InveStore enables organizations to quickly and easily manage data from a single share point over the network, helping environments retain and manage critical archive data and digital assets while providing a means to meet strict regulatory compliance requirements in a number of fields such as, Financial (SEC, Sarbanes-Oxley), Medical (HIPAA, DICOM, PACS), Government (DOD), Legal Admissibility (ISO-18501 and 18509) and many others.

In addition to supporting both rewritable media and write-once read many (WORM) media for regulatory and secure storage requirements, the new TeraCart library's PD drives and media are durable and airtight to prevent dust particles from coming in contact with the drive mechanism and disc surface, resulting in greater reliability for critical applications.

A superior option to tape libraries, a single PD media cartridge can hold 23.3GB of data or the equivalent of up to 2 hours of HDTV content. Backward read compatible with red-laser DVD-R and DVD-RW formats, Sony's PD roadmap currently extends to 2007 with 100GB solutions offering a throughput of 36MB per second.
Available Q1, 2004 with both SAN and NAS support, the modular library offers the flexibility to start with a single cabinet and expand to as many as eight libraries for capacities reaching hundreds of Terabytes. Using pass-through and infrared communications, the libraries can be easily managed as a single physical unit.
Price/Availability
ASACA's expanded line of TeraCart libraries integrating Sony's professional-grade blue laser technology drives, PD media and Pegasus' InveStore version 4.12 will be available the first quarter of 2004 in three scaleable models; the AM80, the AM240 and the AM420 offering up to 1.8TB, 5.5TB and 9.8TB storage respectively. ASACA's TeraCart AM Series with Sony blue laser and PD technologies are expected to have a starting price of $25,000.
Pegasus Disk Technologies also supports the ASACA DVD-RAM based TeraCart series of libraries with InveStore version 4.11.
