The New LC Type Optical Fiber Connector from JST is 50% Smaller than the SC Type Connector
JST Corporation, Waukegan, Illinois, announces the addition of the small form factor LC type optical fiber connector to their fiber optic connector line. The LC type is about half the size of the SC type optical fiber connector. Borrowing features from the RJ 45 connector, the LC type optical fiber connector uses
approximately 50 percent less space than the SC type. LC type optical fiber connectors were designed for premise wiring applications.
The LC type optical fiber connector uses an RJ 45 type latching that when properly mated produces an audible sound. Keying prevents rotational misalignment. LC type connectors can be used in LAN, MAN, and WAN applications. Since the LC type optical fiber connector fits into the RJ-45 footprint, updating
equipment from copper to fiber is possible. LC type connectors offer excellent packaging density, exceptional performance and value.
