Rockwell Automation Launches Next Generation of Allen-Bradley® PanelView(TM) Operator Interface Terminal
New Allen-Bradley® PanelView(TM) Plus gives users modular features and greater upgrade flexibility
MILWAUKEE, April 24, 2003 - Responding to customers' needs for an operator interface terminal option that offers modular components for easier scalability, Complete Automation® leader Rockwell Automation has introduced the next generation of its popular Allen-Bradley® PanelView(TM) line. The PanelView Plus operator interface is a flexible, affordable terminal that enables OEMs and end users to select, change or upgrade interface components to meet changing application requirements.
"Having an operator interface with the modularity and programming flexibility to adapt to advances in technology and human-machine interface strategies is essential in today's manufacturing environment," said Mark Weiland, PanelView Plus product manager, Rockwell Automation. "PanelView Plus allows customers to specify their terminals to a level of detail that optimizes cost and performance with the capacity to meet future application needs.
Because terminal components can be easily interchanged and replaced, the PanelView Plus helps reduce maintenance and repair costs. When a unit needs maintenance or upgrading, users can obtain a replacement part from an Allen-Bradley distributor and simply replace it themselves.
With the modular design of the PanelView Plus, customers can choose from four different screen sizes ranging from seven to15 inches and specify one of three different input methods: touch, keypad, or a combination touch-keypad display. In addition, PanelView Plus delivers more memory out of the box - 32 MB of base and flash RAM - and is field-expandable up to 256 MB base RAM and 512 MB flash RAM.
Using RSView Studio(TM) development software, PanelView Plus can be easily scaled to meet changing application requirements. Users can configure their software programs with minimal engineering effort required to replicate applications or install the hardware. RSView Studio directly imports applications used in PanelView Standard and PanelView e operator interfaces. Hardware configuration is also simplified, as PanelView Plus models are designed to fit into existing PanelView cutouts, so customers do not have to modify their machine panel designs.
PanelView Plus includes RSView Machine Edition(TM) advanced functionality including multi-vendor communications, trending, animation, data logging and expressions all configured with RSView Studio, making the display easy to use right out of the box. Because RSView Studio shares the tag database with RSLogix(TM) software, users can also directly reference addresses created with RSLogix(TM) 5000. The PanelView Plus operator interface includes built-in RS232, Ethernet, Ethernet/IP, and two USB ports for printing, mouse and future peripherals.
PanelView Plus will be available in April 2003.
