Rittal's VIP 6000 Operator Interface Systems Provide Versatile Solutions for Industrial Control

SPRINGFIELD, OH, September 2004 - Rittal announces its line of VIP 6000 operator interface systems that provide infinitely configurable solutions for industrial control applications. The VIP 6000 offers secure protection for CRTs, flat panel displays, keyboards or other control elements, as well as creating optimum ergonomic conditions for operating personnel.

For maximized usability and productivity, the VIP 6000 has been created with the operator in mind. This system can be tailored to exact customer specifications within weeks through Rittal's "build-to-order" service program. The standard VIP 6000 system can also be combined with support arm systems and accessory components to increase flexibility. Customers can choose from varying cross mullions, keyboard housings, trim strips and colors, equipment and mouse pad shelves, support arms, pedestals and cable duct connections to configure the ideal operator interface for an application. When a proper front panel is installed, the VIP 6000 is cUL approved and NEMA 12/IP65 rated.

The VIP 6000 interface is available in five depths, offering added space for conventional monitors, pull-out keyboard drawers, disk drives, bus modules, electronic components and cooling devices. Screw-fastened extensions allow graduated installation depths, ranging from 155 mm (6.2 in) to 498 mm (19.6 in). Hinged extension versions are also available for maximum space utilization and easy maintenance and service. Three bezel frames are available, including wide, narrow and a combined handle version with soft-coated sides.

To dissipate heat, the VIP 6000 operator interface is designed with cooling fins which often eliminate the need for active cooling components. Cooling fins can increase dissipatable heat loss by approximately 30 percent and more with the addition of a modular cooling rear panel. When aggressive cooling is needed, Rittal's VIP Series air conditioner, with a cooling capacity of 920 BTU at 60 Hz, can be mounted to a VIP 6000 enclosure rear wall.
