TI Unveils Zero-Drift Amplifier with Lowest Power and Smallest Size
Device Features 1/10th the Power of Nearest Competition
DALLAS (March 6, 2006) - Providing an unmatched combination of precision, micropower and miniature packaging, Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) today announced a new family of zero-drift operational amplifiers. Featuring ultra-low offset (2mV), ultra-low quiescent current (17mA), operation down to 1.8V and SC70 or SOT23 packages, the OPA333 is ideal for demanding applications in medical instrumentation, temperature measurement, test equipment, security and consumer systems. Fabricated using TI's high-performance, precision mixed-signal CMOS technology, the OPA333 uses auto-zeroing techniques to simultaneously provide very low offset voltage and near-zero drift over time and temperature. The device offers high-impedance inputs that have a common-mode range 100mV beyond both rails and rail-to-rail output that swings within 100mV of the rail. Single or dual supplies as low as 1.8V and up to 5.5V may be used.
The OPA333 features excellent CMRR (common-mode rejection ratio) without the crossover errors associated with traditional complementary input stages. This design results in superior performance for driving analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) without degradation of differential linearity.
TI provides customers a state-of-the-art signal chain solution for precision applications including analog-to-digital converters (ADS1110, ADS8325) and digital-to-analog converters (DAC8551, DAC8830). The OPA333 is also optimized to work with TI's MSP430 ultra-low-power microcontroller family.
Availability and Packaging
The OPA333 family is available now from TI and its authorized distributors. The OPA333 (single version) is packaged in the SC70, SOT23-5 and SO-8, and is priced at $0.95 in 1,000 piece quantities (suggested resale pricing). The OPA2333 (dual version) is offered in 3mm x 3mm DFN and SO-8 packages, and is priced at $1.50 in 1,000 piece quantities. All versions are specified for operation from -40C to +125C.
