Schroff Introduces Seismic Open Frame Rack for Telecom and Datacom Centers in Earthquake-Prone Regions of the World

Warwick, RI, April 2003 - Schroff®, the global leader in electronic enclosure solutions, has introduced a new Seismic Open Frame Rack, in 19" and 23" widths, ideal for data communication centers and telecommunication equipment central offices (CO) situated in earthquake-prone regions such as California or Japan. The new rack meets the rigorous requirements of Telcordia (Bellcore) GR-63-CORE Zone 4, using a test load of 1,000 lbs.

The new Schroff Seismic Open Frame Rack provides a mechanically secure platform for datacom or telecom equipment, ensuring both equipment protection and network integrity during earthquake tremors, even in Zone 4 geological areas.

The new rack employs a rugged welded steel construction to protect sensitive equipment during earthquakes. The base is manufactured using 7 gage (0.180" thick) cold rolled steel (CRS), while the rest of the rack is manufactured using 10 gage (0.125" thick) CRS.

Multiple frames of the Seismic Open Frame Rack may be bayed (joined together) by using four splice plates. The frames can also be secured to the floor using four 1" diameter slots. Four lifting eyebolts may be installed to facilitate movement of the entire rack once it has been fitted with equipment. The new rack's panel mounts are pre-tapped (#12-24) to the Electronic Institute of America (EIA) or telecom standard hole patterns.

The new Schroff Seismic Open Frame Rack from Pentair has an MRSP of $550. Delivery is stock to 4 weeks.
