New Open Drip-Proof Motors Bolster A. O. Smith After-Market Offering
Tipp City, Ohio-A. O. Smith will introduce two new NEMA premium efficiency integral motor designs that are compatible with "C" and "D" flange retrofits at the 2002 EASA Convention in Cincinnati, Ohio, June 16 through 19. A. O. Smith Electrical Products Company will be located in booth 683 at the show.
The new open drip-proof designs join A. O. Smith's growing line of fractional horsepower and integral horsepower motors for industrial applications, according to Dave Hacker, director of distribution services for A. O. Smith Electrical Products Company.
"Many of our customers want motors that can be used in either C-flange or D-flange applications," he noted. "These cost-competitive designs have a more streamlined look and offer users flexibility for either retrofit or new installations."
A. O. Smith will be introducing two versions of the open drip-proof design at the EASA show:
- A series ranging in size from 320-frame up to 440-frame in outputs from 30 to 200 horsepower. This new design will be
available to EASA distributors beginning in July;
- A 440-frame model that delivers from 250 to 400 horsepower
output. The new motor design will be available beginning in
September.

The motors are designed for continuous-duty applications, including industrial pumps, fans, compressors, and conveyors.
