3V 100MHz Dual Video Op Amp Reduces System Cost without Compromising Performance

MILPITAS, CA - August 21, 2003 - Linear Technology Corporation announces the LT6206, a dual video operational amplifier featuring 100MHz gain bandwidth product and 400V/us slew rate. This rail-to-rail amplifier offers a low cost solution while maintaining excellent overall performance and versatility. Designed to operate on supplies from 2.7V to 12.6V, the LT6206 has true single supply capability with the input voltage range extending to the negative rail. The rail-to-rail outputs swing within 60mV of either supply rail, making the LT6206 suitable for 3V operation requiring the maximum output dynamic range. Excellent video specifications include 0.05% differential gain, 0.08deg differential phase and 20ns settling time.

The LT6206 combines a fast 400V/us slew rate and wide bandwidth with a low cost of 97¢ each in 25k-piece quantities. This makes it ideal for a variety of general purpose high speed applications from video electronics to low voltage high speed signal processing in industrial and communication systems.

"The LT6206 offers over 90dB of channel isolation at 10MHz. This allows freedom from interaction between the two channels and minimizes crosstalk for clean output signals," according to design manager, Bill Jett. "The LT6206's excellent AC specifications are complemented by superb DC accuracy. With 3.5mV guaranteed maximum input offset voltage, the LT6206 competes with op amps offering tens of mV of DC offset."

The high output drive of 50mA makes the LT6206 ideal as a line driver or coax cable driver. The low power dissipation, 20mW per amplifier on a single 5V supply, and small packaging, 8-pin MSOP, make the LT6206 suitable for high-density boards or portable applications where minimum size and low power consumption are crucial. The LT6206 is available with full specifications over the commercial temperature range of 0°C to 70°C and industrial temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
