Online Development Displays New Features for Plant Floor to Business System Data Exchange at Automation Fair

Knoxville, TN - Online Development Inc. will be displaying several new features of their xCoupler Enterprise Transaction Module in booth 849 at Automation Fair sponsored by Rockwell Automation in Baltimore, October 25 - 26, 2006. This module is designed to snap into the backplane of Allen-Bradley ControlLogix to provide secure and simple bi-directional data communications between various plant floor devices connected to ControlLogix and business system protocols including IBM® WebSphere® for messaging; IBM DB2, Oracle®, Microsoft® SQL for databases; and SMTP and TCP/IP for communications.

New features to be introduced at Automation Fair include: connectivity with multiple Allen-Bradley CompactLogic PACs, new adapters for MySQL, and AS400, trigger completion feedback reporting, automatic exporting of Audit and Exceptions systems logs via FTP or email, transaction logging for messaging and database systems, configurable listener commands for WebSphere MQ, and additional adapter timestamp formats. These features were added in response to customer needs since the introduction of the xCoupler.

xCoupler modules eliminate the security, virus and data integrity problems associated with PC-based multi-tier systems used to exchange plant floor data with business systems. The xCoupler module's operating system is virtually immune to security problems and virus attacks and provides exceptional data accuracy and timeliness. Plant floor devices cannot affect the operation of the xCoupler module and the module's operation cannot affect plant floor devices.

Set up of these modules can be done in a single day and is accomplished with the xCoupler module's WorkBench(TM) software tool. Its drag and drop configurator makes set up simple and easy with no special programming skills required. It also eliminates the need for enterprise drivers and upgrade maintenance in the future.

Regular demonstrations of the xCoupler module and the WorkBench configuration tool will be conducted in the booth and technical personnel will be available to answer specific application questions.

The technologies developed by the company provide very simple, yet highly effective, connectivity between various proprietary factory automation devices including barcode scanners, modems, printers, robots, HMIs, sensors, RFIDs, and popular factory/warehouse network systems.

The company is also helping its customers meet new regulatory and business pressure demands through the development of plant floor to enterprise system data connectivity solutions such as its ETM(TM) suite of enterprise transaction modules.
