Omron-Yaskawa's New V1000 Inverter Named the 'Most Innovative Product 2007' by IEN Europe

Apr 27, 2007 - Omron-Yaskawa Motion Control B.V. (OYMC), the European market leader in industrial inverters, has announced that its new V1000 inverter has been recognized as the "most innovative product of 2007" by IEN Europe, Europe's leading industrial engineering magazine. The V1000 was selected based on both the magazine editors' and readers' evaluations.

Mr. Oyvind Strommen, Editor in Chief at IEN Europe, commented:
"Each year we look for innovative products driving the industry forward. In our opinion, the V1000 is an excellent example of innovation. We were particularly impressed by the size difference compared with earlier and similar models and also by the reduction in actual mechanical parts used in the inverter."

The amount of interest shown toward the V1000 by the magazine's readers indicates that they gave a similarly high evaluation.

Mr. Strommen presented the award to Alberto Fuentes, Product Manager Omron-Yaskawa Motion Control. Alberto commented:
"It's not easy to improve the basics. The inverter market is growing fast and we have a lot of competitors, who produce quite similar products, are who are also launching new complex automation solutions. Our target was to improve the current market solutions by increasing the quality and reliability of our current products. This was a real challenge because our products were already high quality and highly reliable fom the outset. We are really proud of this award. For Omron-Yaskawa, it is recognition that we've achieved the difficult task of improving Europe's number 1 inverter even further. I would like to thank everybody involved in the project, from our national sales companies for giving us their feedback about customers needs up to our factories that made the V1000 live. I could not expect a better start for the new OYMC inverter generation."

About the V1000

The V1000 was launched in the European market in February 2007. As the market's largest and most trusted supplier of inverters, Omron-Yaskawa is driven by quality and has made a habit of building this into its inverter families. This quality now has a new formula, 10 x 100 = 1, because the V1000 breaks with all conventions and constraints. The innovative design together with modern manufacturing techniques mean that the V1000 is designed for 10 years of maintenance-free operation. Moreover, its features and performance guarantee a 100% match with user expectations. In addition, a field-failure rate of less than 1 in 10,000 means that it will continue to outperform all other inverters long after the average service-life expectancy is over.

Omron-Yaskawa has achieved this new formula for quality and dependable performance by taking enormous strides in design efficiency. Not only has the V1000's volume been reduced by up to 40% to save mounting space, but it also actually uses 50% fewer mechanical parts than its predecessors. This considerably reduces the risk of component failure.
