OMAX® to Feature 55100 JetMachining® Center at Expo Manufactura

Large footprint waterjet system provides a variety of benefits to today's manufacturer

Kent, Washington, March 4, 2008 - OMAX will demonstrate the many benefits of the 55100 JetMachining® Center at Expo Manufactura, the largest manufacturing and metalworking trade show in Mexico. The industry leader in abrasive waterjet machining will occupy booth #906 from March 4 - 6 at the Cintermex Convention Center in Monterrey, Mexico.

The 55100 JetMachining Center is one of three large-footprint JetMachining centers produced by OMAX. Designed to accommodate sheets of material up to 5' x 10', the 55100 can efficiently and accurately cut complex flat parts from a wide variety of materials, including metals, stone, tile, plastics, glass, ceramics and composites.

The 55100 is capable of holding tolerances up to .003" and produces high quality surface finishes, ensuring that even manufacturers with high precision requirements can reap its benefits. Additionally, the 55100 offers substantial productivity gains by eliminating the need for tool changes and reducing setup times by up to 50% over traditional cutting methods.

Based on the Windows XP operating system, the 55100's user-friendly controls simplify the programming of traditionally complex techniques. The 55100 is powered by OMAX Corporation's patented "Compute First - Move Later" motion control technology, which calculates the velocity of a tool path at over 2,000 points per inch, allowing for complete control over the motion of an abrasivejet, and enabling precise, rapid machining. The system also enables operators to machine parts directly from pre-existing CAD drawings or to easily create drawings in Layout, OMAX's intuitive embedded software.

Also on display with the 55100 will be OMAX's Tilt-A-Jet® nozzle, an innovative cutting head that allows for virtually zero taper in finished parts. When the system is in use, OMAX's Windows®-based control software with Intelli-MAX® technologies automatically calculates and offsets the natural taper that results from the abrasivejet. The taper is moved from the part to the scrap, leaving parts with perfectly square edges.

In order to provide customers with the best products on the market, OMAX is dedicated to the unyielding pursuit of technological innovation through research and development. The industry leader in abrasive waterjet machining is also strongly committed to manufacturing the best machines and accessories possible with the best software available. As a result, each OMAX product comes with the OMAX Technology Guarantee, which provides software upgrades for all existing customers at no additional charge.
