Ocular's Denali System Named "Editor's Choice" by Small form Factors Magazine

Dallas, TX (February 19, 2009) - The Denali operator interface terminal (OIT) system from Ocular (www.OcularDisplaySystems.com), a leader in advanced display-centric solutions including LCD and touch screen displays, as well as OIT systems, has been honored with an "Editor's Choice" award from Small Form Factors magazine.

The magazine's 2008/2009 winter edition had the following to say about Ocular's Denali OIT system:

"Lots of PCs have enough horsepower to get an industrial control job done, but relatively few can survive harsh environments. Ocular's new Denali Human-Machine Interface (HMI) system has a 1 GHz VIA processor and 1 GB or more of memory packaged with a 7" TFT display and a new capacitive touch screen. Using what Ocular calls Crystal Touch technology, the glass-based screen is durable and fully sealed, allowing the system to meet SAE J1455 specifications at both low and high temperatures. The system runs either Windows or Linux."

Both Denali and Ocular's Cascade OIT system can be equipped with Ocular's TFT LCD displays and its Crystal Touch, projected capacitive, touch screen that provides significantly improved durability and optical clarity for embedded applications. While Denali is an x86-based system, Cascade features ARM-based processors.

"Combining the Denali HMI system with its Crystal Touch capacitive touch-screen technology places Ocular's Denali among the most advanced HMI systems on the market today," said Don Dingee, contributing editor, Small Form Factors magazine. "This configuration makes for a tough, reliable HMI system, but also one that has the processing and graphical capabilities to get the job done."

Many of the system configuration features of the Denali and Cascade OIT systems, including screen size, memory, and I/O interfaces can be customized to match the precise requirements of the application. Moreover, Ocular can design and manufacture a custom, sealed enclosure and the appropriate touch screen technology for almost any application, including those that are deployed in the harshest environments.
