Oakland County's Aarell Company Wins Renewable Energy Contract with Recovery Energy Resources (RER)
Oakland County, Michigan. - January 8, 2007 - The Aarell Company, located in the City of Troy is developing the innovative ENCORE(TM), RER's alternative energy power plant management and control system. This software package is for use in RER's gasification based energy production facilities. The first installation of ENCORE will be at the Dyess Air Force Base renewable energy project being managed by Siemens Building Technologies. The ENCORE installation includes individual PLC controls for each of the five Westwood Energy gasification units, fuel and ash handling systems, interfaces with WOW Energies WOWGen system and Lundell Manufacturing's Material Recovery Facility. The ENCORE system will also exchange control information with the plant's SCADA system managing the electrical distribution equipment that interconnects the utility electrical feed to the base as well as the electrical feed from the WOWGen system.

The plant being developed by Siemens is the first of its kind to utilize gasification and an organic Rankine cycle to convert municipal solid waste (MSW) into electricity, which will be used by the base. In this installation the combined MSW from the base and the City of Abilene will be used to produce 6MW of electricity for Dyess. It is part of a $39 million task order issued by the US Air Force to Siemens.

Their work to integrate these technologies shows a real desire to preserve and protect a positive relationship with their community (Abilene) and for the environment on water, energy and waste issues." said Assistant Secretary of Energy Alexander Karsner in a recent visit to the base.
