O2 Averaging System suits large combustion applications.

Press Release Summary:

Rosemount® Analytical OxyBalance(TM) enables users to set optimized fuel-to-air ratios and balance individual or sets of burners. Unit graphically displays up to 8 autonomous O2 measurements and provides variable time-scale trends for each probe value. From these readings, system generates up to 4 programmable O2 averages with any failed or calibrating probes data automatically removed from average. System is compatible with any O2 probe system with a 4-20 mA signal ouput.

Emerson Introduces Oxybalance(TM) for Improved Gas Analysis in Large Combustion Processes

New Rosemount® Analytical OxyBalance provides vital data to help operators effectively balance every burner

SOLON, OHIO (April 26, 2006) - Emerson Process Management has unveiled the Rosemount® Analytical OxyBalance(TM) oxygen display and averaging system for improving gas analysis in large combustion applications. OxyBalance provides vital oxygen (O2) data that helps operators set ideal fuel-to-air ratios and effectively balance individual burners or sets of burners.

"A large coal-fired boiler may have 10-15 probes gathering O2 data from various points in a large duct. It is very important that an accurate average be calculated from those probes in order to ensure the fuel-to-air ratio is set at optimal levels. While the DCS control system often has the capability to do the averaging function, it's also of great importance to be able to see the probe-to-probe stratification profile across a large duct," said Doug Simmers, product manager for Rosemount Analytical. "The OxyBalance provides both the averaging and burner variability information that is critical to operators - ultimately minimizing wasted resources and optimizing plant efficiency."

Emerson's new OxyBalance is engineered to graphically display up to eight autonomous O2 measurements, and provide variable time-scale trends for each probe value. From these readings, the system can generate up to four programmable O2 averages with any failed or calibrating probes' data automatically removed from the average - assuring operators of an accurate reading every time.

Additionally, no failure within the OxyBalance system can affect the individual 4-20 mA signals coming from each probe. This is unlike competitive systems that can lose all of the probe signals and averages with a single power supply failure.

The Rosemount Analytical OxyBalance display and averaging system is compatible with all Rosemount Analytical oxygen probes, including the Oxymitter(TM), and can be used with any competitive O2 probe system with a 4-20 mA signal output.
