Intelligent InSites Helps NuVista Living Deliver on Their Vision of the Patient Smart Room

Now the systems, such as electronic medical records (EMR), vital signs monitoring, advanced nurse call, and communication systems "talk to each other" - boosting overall efficiency, while also allowing caregivers the opportunity to spend more time providing "hands on care."

As part of the NuVista Living Smart Room solution, clinicians wear locating tags that identify them and display their names on a wall-mounted monitor visible to patients. At the same time, the Smart Room infrastructure automatically provides clinicians with real-time patient information pulled from an electronic medical records system, including allergies, vital signs, test results, and medications that are due. The information shown on the caregiver's monitor is tailored to the needs of the specific staff member - for example, a hostess who delivers meal trays sees only dietary orders and allergy information, whereas a doctor sees vital signs and test results. The integrated solution also helps to determine which tasks should be completed in which order to provide the most effective care for patients, as it notifies the appropriate caregiver by mobile device or offers real-time prompts when clinicians enter the room.
