New Family Of Miniature Ultrasonic Distance Sensors From Baumer Electric

Southington, Conn. -- October 29, 2003.... Baumer Electric has introduced a new line of miniature analog output ultrasonic sensors for non-contact distance and level monitoring. These very compact sensors are available in either a tubular enclosure measuring M12x1x70 mm or in rectangular housings with exterior dimensions of 15x20x49 mm.

For space-restricted applications, the external Teach-in capability allows the user to select both limits of the sensing range and the slope of the analog output, eliminating the need for direct access to the sensor housing. The output function is invertible, which allows the user to select a rising or falling output slope as appropriate for the specific application. Set-up configuration is saved on an internal EEPROM, guaranteeing operation if power is removed from the sensor.

Baumer Electric miniature ultrasonic sensors feature a 20 to 200 mm sensing range and a narrow sonic beam angle of just 6°, making them ideal for sensing objects through tight openings such as bottlenecks, test tubes, or ampoules. As the sensors offer a 0.3 mm resolution and a short 30 msec reaction time, they can accurately detect the fastest movement of objects on a manufacturing line. All Baumer Electric miniature ultrasonic sensors are sealed to IP67.

As a manufacturer of all types of high-quality precision sensors since 1952, Baumer Electric offers customer-oriented sensor solutions for every automation need.
