S-tube Impeller from Grundfos - We Did It

BJERRINGBRO, Denmark, --

No Compromise When Pumping Wastewater

The S-tube impeller from Grundfos sets new standards for wastewater hydraulic design. This innovative channel impeller offers greater hydraulic efficiency than any other type of wastewater impeller, and doesn't compromise free passage, which ensures trouble-free operation.

The S-tube impeller has now been released, following several expectant months build up on www.grundfos.com/no-compromise. With the S-tube impeller, the efficiency is higher compared to other wastewater impellers, as there are no edges, dead zones, or cutting functions that get worn over time. Furthermore the S-tube impeller features an innovative and patented labyrinth and sealing system, for years of trouble-free operation.

The S-tube impeller offers the highest hydraulic efficiency and best-in-class non-clogging capabilities for optimum reliability and lowest life cycle costs.

- Efficiency: World class hydraulic efficiency without compromising free passage

- Free passage: Greater free passage means better solids handling and greater non-clogging capabilities

- Simplicity: A design as simple and robust as a tube results in longer lifetime and lower maintenance costs

Why compromise on free passage and hydraulic efficiency?

The very nature of wastewater is challenging, dry solids content varies over time.
Similarly, water use has not remained static either. The S-tube takes on these challenges, making the traditional trade-off between hydraulic efficiency and free passage unnecessary.

The S-tube impeller is a tube-shaped impeller in a pump housing that matches the tube shape through the entire pump. The simplicity of the S-tube impeller eliminates the need for advanced and costly add-on assemblies, which are designed to cut, shred or treat the wastewater as it flows through the pump.

Uniquely balanced for quiet, smooth operation

The difficulties in designing high-efficiency sewage impellers have traditionally been
challenged with sealing, vibrations, abrasive wear and clogging. The Grundfos S-tube impeller meets and surpasses all these challenges.

A unique new method for balancing the impeller means less vibration and noise. Quiet
and smooth operation is indicative of greater reliability, with longer lifetime for
bearings, shaft seals and other components. The smooth design through the hydraulics
ensures less abrasive wear and enhances the non-clogging capabilities, meaning reduced
costs over time.

A renewed and expanded range of Grundfos SE and SL wastewater pumps, incorporate the new S-tube impeller which has also been launched at the IFAT Ensorga exhibition in Munich Germany on the 8th May 2012. These heavy duty wastewater pumps offer the best total, wire-to-water efficiency, and come with IE3 motor efficiency and new hydraulics which include, of course, the S-tube impeller. These pumps continue the tried and trusted Grundfos SE and SL pump story, providing technologically advanced pumps for wastewater handling. But, when it comes to the traditional trade-off between efficiency and free passage - there is NO COMPROMISE - WE DID IT!

Grundfos is the world's largest pump manufacturer, based in
Denmark, with about 17,000 employees globally. The annual production of more than 16
million pump units, circulator pumps, submersible pumps and centrifugal pumps is
approximately 50% of the world market for these pumps and pump systems. For more
