The Montrac transport system for intralogistics of plastic parts
Huntersville March 20, 2008. With the Montrac transport system, intralogistic processes are optimized and productivity is increased as a result.
When you have to increase productivity, the first idea is to increase the number of machines. Another option is to automate or to optimize the material flow. "Often, a conventional transport system cannot meet the requirements of intralogistic applications. With Montrac, instead, products are conveyed quickly, easily and with no queues", says Alessandro Sibilia, CEO, Montech AG.
Transport system, belt conveyor and scale all-in-one
Specifically for the plastic industry, Montech has developed a Montrac module with belt conveyor and integrated scale. Through a belt conveyor that operates independently of the machine and cycle time, the finished products are conveyed into a container placed on a shuttle of the transport system Montrac. The high precision scale of company Eilersen measures the weight inside the container with 0.1 g accuracy.
The process is automatic and the products can be dosed in any quantity with no additional handling. "With this solution, injection molding machines can be efficiently combined and integrated with the logistic system", adds Sibilia.
Universal Shuttle System
With Montrac, Montech has developed a modular and universal transport system. The self-moving shuttles of this maintenance-free system can reach a speed of 30 m/min on the monorail. The electrically operated components (switches and crossings) need no compressed air. Power is supplied directly through the rails. The shuttles communicate with the track via infrared.
Montrac-Configurator
With the Web-based Configurator at www.montech.com, the customer can configure a Montrac plant independently and try out different variants. With this online tool, it is quick and easy to adapt the monorail track to the customer's operating needs and to available space in the installation place.
