New WAFS Capability Completes Exinda's Unified Performance Management

WAFS Implementation Continues Exinda's Technology Breakthrough, CIFS Acceleration Drives Server Consolidation & Centralization

SEATTLE, Dec. 4 / -- Exinda Networks, the only provider of Unified Performance Management (UPM) worldwide, today announced the delivery of WAFS (Wide Area File Services) functionality, including CIFS protocol optimization and acceleration, enabling small, medium and large enterprises to realize the extensive benefits of server centralization and consolidation. Gaining greater control over the dynamics of corporate data storage and backups with local area network (LAN)-like performance, Exinda's WAFS will simplify network infrastructure, significantly reduce data communications costs and deliver enterprise productivity gains that dwarf the costs of implementation.

Accelerating file transfer speeds by up to a factor of 50, Exinda's WAFS acceleration completes the Exinda integration of wide area network (WAN) optimization and application acceleration platforms, fulfils the minimum UPM compliance requirements, and delivers compelling productivity gains and return on investment (ROI) to the enterprise. Exinda's WAFS brings the WAN's performance fully in line with the exponentially growing demands of the business.

Defining the "time waiting at screen" factor (TWAS factor) as a real-life end-user productivity loss measurement, Exinda can quantify the real costs generated by WAN and Internet communications delays inherent with current infrastructures and technologies. This cost is typically far higher than most CFOs and CEOs are aware of.

Exinda's WAFS eliminates network delays caused by the chattiness and inefficiencies associated with CIFS traffic traversing corporate WANs. Significant server centralization and consolidation projects are underway globally as corporations search for ways to maximize their return on investment in their network infrastructure.

According to a Gartner research study, six percent of respondents had conducted a server consolidation project, 61 percent were currently conducting one and 28 percent were planning to do so in the immediate future.

"Delivering WAFS functionality through the optimization and acceleration of CIFS traffic is a critical component in reducing poor network response times and the associated employee waiting times," said Chris Siakos, chief technology officer at Exinda. "Our CIFS acceleration tool is the newest component of Exinda's Unified Performance Management. Exinda continues to innovate and will be adding integrated optimization and acceleration technologies for other important network applications in the coming months," concluded Siakos.

Availability

Exinda's new CIFS acceleration will be available in January, 2007, as a standard feature on the x800 application acceleration platforms. CIFS acceleration firmware can be downloaded at no cost from www.exinda.com/updates/.
