BOXTRAB Surge Protective Device

Protection for power, data, and signal in one enclosure

Middletown, Pa. – Phoenix Contact’s new BOXTRAB surge protective device (SPD) combines protection for power, data, and signal within the same enclosure. In the process industries, instrumentation requires both power and signal/data control lines. Equipment users often protect these circuits with two dedicated surge protectors: one for power and one for signal. BOXTRAB provides an all-inclusive suppression system comprising independently configured protection arrays within a single enclosure to safeguard both the instrument’s power and signal lines.

BOXTRAB requires less time to design and install, so it saves space and reduces costs. Users can custom-configure and upgrade the BOXTRAB in the field to meet specific needs. With different expansion options available, BOXTRAB offers a flexible solution for virtually any combination of power, data, and signal applications.

BOXTRAB is available in either a polycarbonate or 316L stainless-steel enclosure. Both enclosures are NEMA 4X outdoor rated. 316L stainless steel is commonly used in industrial processing applications involving chemicals. It provides a higher corrosion resistance, especially against chlorides and chlorinated solutions. The stainless steel versions also have an externally mounted LED, providing visual indication of the status of the power SPD inside.

The polycarbonate enclosure has multiple knockouts for easier wiring. The clear UV-resistant polycarbonate lid allows easy viewing of SPD status without the need to open the enclosure.
