Original Press Release:

A New Edition of The SKYCOPTER COBRA Drone: Longer Inspection Time and Enhanced Illumination

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) revolutionized various aspects of our lives - from shooting panoramic views to delivery services to law enforcement operations, to name just a few. The new and improved version of the SKYCOPTER COBRA confined space inspection drone brings a fresh perspective to the world of industrial maintenance and quality control. The SKYCOPTER inspection drone with a protective cage is ideally suited for hazardous locations and confined spaces, thus sparing inspectors from unnecessary risk. The spectrum of potential applications is extremely varied and includes inspecting manholes, mainlines, tanks, culverts, buildings' structural integrity, confined spaces exposed to radiation, and potentially toxic environments.

A collision-resistant circular cage protects the lightweight but durable drone during an inspection. The drone weighs only about 1.3kg (or 2.8 lbs). Superb 12,000 Lumens LED enhanced illumination allows a clear view even in a completely dark environment. The drone's flight time on a single charge is extended up to 14 minutes. Additionally, the set includes four spare batteries, and the total operation time should cover even a relatively lengthy aerial inspection.

The most important single element of the drone is its Full HD camera with a controllable motorized tilt and an FPV (first-person view) video transmission system. The image can be visualized using FPV goggles with large LED panels and a 46-degree field of view. Alternatively, an operator can follow the inspection on a tablet built into a ground station. Operation of the drone is controlled via an advanced remote controller with a detachable antenna and an LCD screen that displays flight telemetry. Even though the SKYCOPTER COBRA is a fairly sophisticated piece of equipment, the control unit is intuitive and easy to operate.

On top of that, the SKYCOPTER COBRA can carry up to 250g (0.55 lb.) of customizable payload. This may include an additional thermal camera or sensors. For example, the drone is radiation resistant, and the user can add a dosimeter if necessary.

Unlike many non-specialized and semi-professional drones currently on the market, the SKYCOPTER COBRA is manufactured by a NASA contractor, reflected in its unsurpassable quality and thoughtful design.
