New Quintum® Tenor Hybrid Gateway Wins 2008 BEST OF SHOW AWARD at Internet Telephony Show in Miami

February 13, 2008

Quintum Technologies, a leading innovator in VoIP technologies and a subsidiary of Network Equipment Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: NWK), announced today that the new Tenor Hybrid VoIP Gateway for Microsoft's Office Communications Server 2007, which debuted at the recent Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC®) INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference and EXPO East 2008, garnered the Best of Show Award for Best Large Enterprise Solution.

The Best of Show awards are presented to companies unveiling the most impressive new products or new releases at the show. Quintum's Tenor Hybrid Gateway was formally announced at the start of the Internet Telephony show on Wednesday, January 22nd, and was prominently displayed in the Quintum booth.

The Tenor Hybrid Gateway includes Quintum's unique intelligent VoIP switching technology and is Microsoft Mediation Server-ready to simplify deployments of Microsoft unified communications (UC). This new hybrid product is a single box solution, specifically designed to allow customers to easily integrate Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 into existing enterprise voice networks allowing businesses to leverage their past voice network investments and to minimize disruptions to their business.

The Tenor Hybrid Gateway features Quintum's Unified Communications Proxy (UCP) that addresses critical needs for deploying Microsoft's Office Communications Server 2007, which traditional VoIP gateways do not address. Tenor VoIP Switches and Gateways with UCP support "any to any' switching, which allows the integration of Office Communications Server 2007 with the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and any legacy or SIP-based voice equipment, including:

o TDM PBXs
o analog telephony equipment
o fax and modem-based equipment
o IP-PBXs
o SIP-based endpoints, including standard SIP phones.

The UCP also supports the deployment of multiple gateways behind a single mediation server, providing the ability to extend gateway capability to branch offices.

"Quintum's Tenor Hybrid Gateway was impressive," said TMC President and Conference Chairman, Rich Tehrani, "not only in its ability to provide a mediation server ready Unified Communications VoIP Gateway for those customers deploying Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 but, more importantly, because Quintum's Unified Communications Proxy (UCP) provides any-to-any call routing, including SIP to SIP, TDM to TDM and SIP to TDM connections. This feature, along with the Hybrid Gateway, qualified Quintum for this Best of Show Award."

"Quintum's UCP addresses the key integration issues that are faced by companies deploying Microsoft's Office Communications Server 2007," said Chuck Rutledge, Vice President of Marketing for Quintum. "The UCP supports the intelligent integration of all TDM and VoIP equipment and is included with all Tenor S products and the Tenor Hybrid Gateway.
