New Memcor CP System from Siemens Combines Advanced Membrane Technology with Simplified Design and Expansion Capabilities

Warrendale, Pa., June 11, 2006 - Water Technologies, a division of the Siemens Group Industrial Solutions and Services (I&S), introduces the Memcor CP pressurized membrane system. Ideal for drinking water applications, the system ensures microbial protection, achieving goals set by the U.S. EPA's Long Term 2 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule (LT2ESWTR). The system, a USFilter technology, is also well suited for gravity-driven systems, treatment requiring coagulants and pretreatment to reverse osmosis applications such as desalination and reuse. With a compact, modular design, the system can be installed and started up quickly, and can be easily expanded to meet future capacity demands without increasing footprint.

Membrane modules are pre-loaded into arrays, and up to three arrays can be combined to create a skid that uses common piping, valves and controls. The fully skid-mounted system arrives at the customer's site ready for fast installation.

"Customers can now design a membrane plant that uses catalog specifications to simplify and expedite both design and installation," says Lisa Sorgini, Global Brand Manager at Siemens Water Technologies. "Designs can be easily modified based on flow and expansion requirements. And, because owners can "build" their own plant to suit their needs and budgets, they end up with the lowest overall system cost."

The new system incorporates Siemens' latest membrane innovations. The new membrane module is designed to increase flow by over 30 percent in the same footprint, compared to traditional membrane systems. With a verifiable physical barrier of 0.04 microns, the membranes assure greater than 4-log removal of Cryptosporidium and Giardia. The result is a more efficient, easily designed and installed membrane system that meets specific design requirements and water quality goals, as well as today's water treatment regulations.
