Original Press Release:

AMETEK MOCON Launches User-Friendly and Time-Saving Visual Bubble Leak Detection Instrument, Dansensor® LeakPointer® H2O

Ringsted, Denmark, (June 23, 2021) -- AMETEK MOCON, a leading global provider of permeation analyzers, package testing instruments, and gas controllers/sensors, today announced the launch of the Dansensor® LeakPointer® H2O, a visual bubble leak detection system ideal for locating leaks in all types of flexible, semi-rigid, and rigid packages.

The new Dansensor® LeakPointer® H2O is used for package leak testing for MAP packaging and other packaging methods alike. It is designed for the food industry, where leak detection is critical to a product’s shelf life. Customers will quickly find the location of the leak, which is essential for solving packaging integrity issues and protecting brand reputation.

Regardless of whether a package has headspace -- like modified atmosphere packages -- or other packaging methods with little or no headspace -- such as vacuum or skin packaging -- the Dansensor® LeakPointer® H2O can pinpoint very small holes with great precision.

“With the new Dansensor® LeakPointer® H2O, testing for packaging integrity is faster and more convenient,” says Steen Andreasen, Product Manager at MOCON Europe A/S. “What is more, with the new LeakPointer® H2O, you can even test regardless of the gas mixture within the package, which increases its applicability. Simply use the optional digital pressure meter to ensure accurate testing, even on difficult packages.”

As expected with Dansensor’s® approach to product design, the instrument is ergonomically designed for operator safety and convenience. In particular, the LeakPointer® H2O is designed so operators can avoid heavy lifting, reduce messy water dripping during usage, and simplify troublesome cleaning processes. In all cases, it saves time and improves the experience of operating the instrument on a daily basis.

Complying with the ASTM D3078 standard, the instrument fills and drains water by utilizing a vacuum generated from compressed air. Add to this a mounted hydraulic lid (which reduces messy dripping), a removable and easily cleanable tub, and a quick-release hose to fill and empty the tub without heavy lifting, and you have yourself an instrument made for the convenience of the operator.

Andreasen remarks: “The Dansensor® LeakPointer® H2O is the perfect addition to your quality control process. It can be used alone or, to achieve the ultimate leak detection solution, it can be combined with the Dansensor® LeakPointer® 3 or LeakPointer® 3+. To do so, first determine if there is a leak with a non-destructive leak test on the LeakPointer 3, then use the LeakPointer® H2O to find the leak’s exact location. This will reduce waste and save money by avoiding production line batch mistakes.”
