New Extreme Networks Summit Switches Successfully Compliance Tested with Avaya's Market-Leading IP Telephony Solutions

Stackable switching solution meets key Avaya interoperability requirements for enterprise IP telephony

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Aug. 8 / / -- Extreme Networks Inc. (NASDAQ:EXTR) and Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV), a leading global provider of business communications applications, systems and services, have successfully compliance tested new Extreme Networks(R) Summit(R) X250 switches with Avaya's market-leading IP telephony solutions.

Through Avaya's compliance process, Extreme Networks Summit X250e-24p, X250e-48p, X250e-24T and X250e-48T switch models were successfully tested for interoperability with Avaya Communication Manager IP telephony software, Avaya Media Gateways and Avaya IP Office, a converged voice and data server for small and midsized businesses.

Tests demonstrated that Extreme Networks Summit X250 switches support and prioritize Avaya IP telephony voice traffic and to power a mix of Avaya digital and IP telephones on a converged network.

"Our new Summit X250 stackable switches, which contain critical voice and data convergence features that have been tested with Avaya's world-class IP telephony solutions, pack powerful features into a 10/100 Ethernet platform," said Scott Lucas, senior director of solutions marketing for Extreme Networks. "These innovative switches leverage ExtremeXOS(TM), our modular network operating system, to dramatically simplify network operations by delivering consistent capabilities from 10Mpbs to 10Gbps and from the edge to the core."

The Extreme Networks Summit X250 switches were validated for interoperability through the Avaya DeveloperConnection program -- an initiative to promote the development, compliance-testing and co-marketing of innovative third-party products that are compatible with standards-based Avaya solutions.

"Innovative companies like Extreme Networks who share our commitment to open standards are helping Avaya reshape the business landscape," said Eric Rossman, vice president, developer relations and technical alliances, Avaya. "Together we help our customers get far more out of their communications investment -- improving their responsiveness and achieving levels of performance that can set apart from the competition."
