Premio BCO-2000 Series Fanless Mini Computer Offers Unmatched Performance, Scalable I/O, and Powerful Processing in a Palm-Sized Form Factor

Rugged design closes the power efficiency processing gap, optimized for edge data connectivity and high reliability in manufacturing, machine automation, surveillance, kiosk and telemetry applications

Greater Los Angeles, CALIFORNIA, March 1, 2021Premio Inc., an edge to cloud global ODM/OEM solutions provider in industrial computing technology, today unveiled its BCO-2000 Series fanless embedded mini computer to meet industry requirements for faster processing in space-constrained IoT deployments. The BCO-2000 Series incorporates Premio’s industrial-grade 3.5-inch motherboard for superior multi-core processing, memory, storage, and connectivity. The BCO-2000 offers support for Intel’s 8th Generation Core® i5, i3, and Intel® Celeron® Processors in a palm-sized, compact form factor. The SBC packs impressive system-on-chip (SoC) performance, low TDP, and I/O port variety that can be integrated into a rugged system-level design. Its small form factor is ideal for processing industrial-focused workloads in space-constrained environments.

The design of the BCO-2000 Series enables system deployment in industrial environments where exposure to dust, debris, humidity, shock, vibration, and extreme temperatures are the norm. These settings often include applications that require 24/7 reliability such as manufacturing and machine automation, rugged security and surveillance, outdoor kiosks and retail, and IoT gateways for edge data connectivity and telemetry.

The BCO-2000 Series provides excellent performance with low power consumption in a ruggedized design that supports wide temperature, and resistance to shocks and vibration,” said Dustin Seetoo, Director of Product Marketing for Premio. “This rugged mini pc is different than most on the market because it provides I/O configurability and flexibility via add-on modules; by offering multiple options to connect to a variety of IoT sensors we help our partners achieve IoT scale.”

The BCO-2000 Series can be configured with Intel’s 8th Generation Mobile-U Processors. Integrators can select the BCO-2000 Series with an Intel® Core® i5-8365UE Processor, featuring four cores with Intel’s hyperthreading technology. Each core has a base frequency of 1.60 GHz and a turbo frequency of 4.10 GHz, enabling the system to tackle complex workloads with relative ease. All of this performance is possible from a 15W TDP SoC design that packages processing and graphics into a single silicon die. The BCO-2000 Series is also available with an Intel® Celeron® 4305UE, featuring two cores with a base frequency of 2.0 GHz and a 15W TDP, making it ideal for entry-level IoT workloads.

While most rugged mini PCs have fixed I/Os that limit their overall functionality for many IoT applications, the BCO-2000 Series can pull additional I/O ports directly from the motherboard itself, differentiating it from other rugged mini PCs on the market. The BCO-2000 Series complements a unique modular design that provides additional I/O offerings for integrators looking to add specific I/O configurations to their IoT projects such as USB, COM, PoE, and/or LAN ports. The BCO-2000 Series offers ready to integrate I/O kits that can be quickly added based on IoT I/O configuration requirements. For example, the system can be expanded with four additional GigE RJ45 LAN ports, two RJ45 PoE LAN Ports and two Serial COM ports, or four additional COM ports pulled from the motherboard via cables or module kits, providing you with a total of up to six COM ports in the rear. Furthermore, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Ports can be added from the rear I/O slots, providing a total of 4x USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports and x2 USB 2.0 ports.

In addition to robust processing performance, the BCO-2000 Series was designed and built to withstand the rigors of industrial environments. Its fanless design has been tested and validated to allow deployment in temperatures ranging from -20⁰C to 60⁰C.
