The upgraded software reduces development time and costs required to create Google Chrome-Based applications to print from any Chrome OS terminal or Chrome browser to a BIXOLON printer.
After first launching its first generation Google Chrome OS™ development tools in August 2017, BIXOLON has been recognised as the industry’s first POS printer manufacturer to offer application development tools for the platform. Rapidly expanding its printer line-up to include wired and wireless interface compatibility in response to customer demand for faster, easier integration of BIXOLON printers & connected peripherals to future platforms and applications as their business needs evolve.

The Chrome Software Development Kit enables developers to deliver applications across multiple platforms (Windows, Linux, OS X) with one code base (JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS). The SDK includes a JavaScript library file, sample code and an API manual to accelerate development time, enabling BIXOLON printers to print from any Chrome OS terminal or Chrome browser. The Chrome SDK enables developers to easily integrate printer functions including the printing of characters, images, one & two-dimensional barcodes (PDF417, QR code), check printer status and printer setup (print speed, density, rotation, margins and cutter usage). The SDK also supports printer connection via Bluetooth, WiFi, Ethernet or USB depending on the chosen printer model.
The Chrome SDK is also compatible with BIXOLON’s B-gate mPOS hub connected to its range of B-gate printers. Once an app has been developed using this SDK, it will allow the mPOS hub to control wired peripherals such as Customer displays, Magnetic Stripe Readers, scanners, USB devices, RFID, NFC, HID, Dallas Keys and Scales by communicating directly from a terminal.
