Strand-Type Materials and Products that Contain Small Amounts of Water Easily Fed with Enhanced Acrison Model 905-18 Volumetric Feeder
Acrison, Inc., an innovative global leader in dry solids metering and handling technologies for over 50 years, has specifically designed an enhanced version of their Model 905-18 Feeder that meters "strand-type" materials that contain small amounts of moisture, such as fiberglass, in lengths ranging from 0.4 to 0.75 inches.
Reliable product flow is ensured through an integral, specially designed 5 cubic foot supply hopper with uniquely configured distribution trough that empties onto a slow-moving metering/conveyor belt with two pile depth control and leveling mechanisms to produce a consistent depth and width of material on the belt. A proportional relationship between the metering/conveyor belt, and the two leveling mechanisms that allows them to operate independently, is driven by heavy duty variable speed gearmotors. A rotating dispersing mechanism operating at the discharge end of the belt produces a uniform flow of material off of the belt while output feed rate is controlled by the speed of the belt.
Use of the Model 905-18 Feeder as the metering mechanism of an Acrison Model 402 "Weight-Loss" weighing system permits gravimetric metering. The entire feeder, including the supply hopper, is manufactured in 304 stainless steel and the feeder is completely self-emptying, very easy to clean, requires minimal maintenance, and is virtually silent during operation.
