Agilent Technologies Introduces Industry's Most Flexible Network-testing Solution for High-speed IP and Triple-play Troubleshooting

Distributed Network Analyzer PRO accelerates deployment of high-demand IP network services, technology

CHICAGO, Supercomm, Booth No. 32015, June 6, 2005

Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today introduced its Distributed Network Analyzer PRO, a network troubleshooting platform that delivers a new testing paradigm by offering more testing modes and applications than any other solution on the market. Easily adapting to the most diverse usage models, the Distributed Network Analyzer PRO delivers critical information from a wide array of network interfaces and allows engineers to accurately measure and qualify service performance, identify root-cause of impairments, and troubleshoot complex problems on multiservice, multitechnology networks from any location.

The J6803A Distributed Network Analyzer PRO extends the capabilities of the network analyzer solutions from Agilent by providing local and distributed test capabilities for installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of next-generation networks. The platform incorporates a wide variety of access interfaces in a small portable platform with a breakthrough wireless LAN user interface, making it the most extensible tool for diagnosing network and services issues when turning up and optimizing networks. This provides real-time statistics and expert analysis where and when they are needed the most.

"The Agilent Distributed Network Analyzer PRO is valuable because it allows monitoring and troubleshooting of any technology, which is what our business requires," said Keith Patton, senior systems administrator, Photronics. "Other products on the market typically require fitting our needs to a standard supplied model, which is usually inadequate. Agilent's solution not only increases our staff efficiencies and reduces travel to our remote sites, but also gives the remote office support that is sometimes unavailable."

"Agilent has been working with customers for a long time to understand what they need for testing mobile triple-play networks and services," said Steve Witt, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Network Systems Test Division. "We have 25 years of protocol analysis experience, have sold more than 75,000 testers and have generated over 500 patents. Our latest innovation for network testing is built to reduce the troubleshooting time of next-generation networks by providing flexibility to customers testing widely distributed networks."

New triple-play measurements include support for HSDPA in mobile broadband networks, video protocol analysis, and an industry-first capability to directly correlate VoIP voice quality with network impairments, taking the guesswork out of analysis. Additional benefits of Agilent's Distributed Network Analyzer PRO include:

Flexibility -- dispatched on-site testing, unattended remote testing, and centralized troubleshooting, anytime and anywhere.

Efficiency -- versatile management, including Web browser access, Instrument Manager, and network troubleshooting center.

Telemetry -- connectivity includes WiFi, 10/100/1000 Ethernet, local- and LAN-based, and dial-up.
