National Brazilian Carrier, GlobeCall, Launches VIPCall with Quintum Tenor VoIP Solutions

Tenor VoIP Capability Provides New Services For Corporate Customers
Quintum Technologies, a leading innovator in VoIP technologies, is pleased to announce that GlobeCall, a nationwide telecom carrier in Brazil, has deployed a national VoIP network based on the Quintum Tenor VoIP Switches. Tenor VoIP MultiPath Switches are deployed in its headquarters in Sao Paulo, as well as in several POPs throughout the country.
PL Tecnologia was the systems integrator who designed and implemented the VoIP system at GlobeCall. According to Marcelo Merenda, Technical Manager for the GlobeCall, he was familiar with the Quintum brand, and trained his own service technicians on Quintum's technology. "PL's customer service and great pre- and post-sales technical support is simplified by the deployment of Quintum equipment at GlobeCall," points out Merenda.
PL Tecnologia has a business unit exclusively focused in IP telephony. Authorized by ANATEL, the national agency for telecommunications in Brazil, GlobeCall provides high voice quality for conventional (long distance and mobile service) and VoIP services to the corporate market at a competitive price. In order to expand its service offerings, GlobeCall launched VIPCall, a Voice over IP communication service. The goal of this VoIP offering is to reduce expenses of telephone bills, estimated to be nearly 50%, for the carriers' customers, especially for those who spend a lot of money with long-distance calls due to many geographically dispersed offices.
Advantages to utilizing GlobeCall's services include not only cost savings, but also a lower total cost of ownership due to Tenor's ability to connect to virtually any PBX, as well as its interoperability with H.323 and SIP devices. Tenor's NATAccess(TM) also allows Tenors to communicate even behind NAT Firewalls. Finally, Tenor is easy to administer from GlobeCall's POPs.
To provide VoIP nationwide, a Quintum CMS (Carrier MultiPath Switch) 960 was deployed in the headquarter location in Sao Paulo, and Tenor CMS 240 units were deployed in multiple POPs. In addition, they deployed Tenor DX, Tenor AX and other Tenor models on their customers' premises.

"They opted for the CMS line for their POPs, because of its scalability from 8 to 32 T1/E1/PRI ports, to support up to 960 simultaneous VoIP calls, and the Tenor's MultiPath architecture simplified VoIP deployment at the customer premise minimizing installation time and expense."
