EVERETT, Wash., August 27, 2007 - Intermec (NYSE:IN) has entered into an aftermarket reselling agreement with NACCO Materials Handling Group, Inc. (NMHG) to provide vehicle mount computers, handheld bar code scanners and RFID (radio frequency identification) technology equipment for NMHG's Hyster and Yale brand lift trucks.
ADC and RFID enabled forklifts are now available for order directly from Hyster or Yale dealers with Intermec equipment installed, giving customers the benefit of improved asset utilization and performance, and the convenience of having a single point of contact for service and support.
"The material handling and information technology industries have converged to the extent that customers are recognizing the efficiencies of enabling technology at the point of material handling. NMHG recognizes that the forklift is becoming an information portal that can deliver efficiencies to customers well beyond the standard features of the truck. The Intermec relationship enables our dealers and National Account teams to provide a higher value to customers." said Jonathan Dawley, Manager of Business Development. It is estimated that approximately 70 percent of warehouse forklifts in North America have mobile computing or data collection equipment installed. "The opportunity to synergize the forklift and the customer demand for data via mobile computing is undeniable. Our partnership with Intermec gives us the capacity to offer our customers the very best of both the material handling and technology worlds." said Dawley.
With over 250,000 vehicle installations and 17,000 warehouse installations, Intermec is one of the world's largest mobile computing and data collection manufacturers.
