N-Viro International Announces Successful Test of N-Viro Fuel for Use in Coal Fired Power Plants

TOLEDO, Ohio, March 5 /- N-Viro International Corp. (BULLETIN BOARD: NVIC.OB) ("NVIC") announced today the successful completion of a performance test of N-Viro Fuel at a major power generation facility. N-Viro Fuel is a newly developed and patented biomass fuel that has physical and chemical characteristics similar to coal and is created from municipal waste and/or manure.

On January 8, 2007 a full scale demonstration was conducted utilizing a CFB coal combustion boiler. The demonstration was conducted utilizing a blend of Eastern Bituminous Coal and N-Viro Fuel. N-Viro Fuel is created utilizing the Company's alkaline stabilization process, with the addition of mechanical drying. Preliminary analytical results have indicated N-Viro Fuel can be introduced into a CFB Boiler without deviation of the performance of the boiler.

Timothy Kasmoch President and CEO of N-Viro International stated, "What is exciting about N-Viro Fuel, in addition to its graduating from the development stage to being tested and proven in an actual coal-fired power plant, is the realization that we are moving a step closer to having this exciting new technology ready for full-scale commercial introduction to an industry hungry for such technologies. N-Viro Fuel will provide an entirely new revenue source derived principally from an established product which we already sell."

"While profitable," he added, "the revenues from N-Viro Soil contribute only a small amount to our overall revenue picture. During the past 10 years we have generated revenues in excess of $40 million providing our treatment services to local municipalities, which are in essence helping them turn municipal sludge into an environmentally safe product. When the millions of tons of by-product created annually is converted into N-Viro Fuel, a potentially high margin environment will exist. Utilization of our alternative fuel process is the single most important milestone in our Company's history."

The test was designed to gauge and measure the performance of N-Viro Fuel when blended with Eastern Bituminous Coal in a Circulating Fluidized Bed ("CFB") coal combustion boiler, a clean coal technology. CFB Boilers are mainly utilized for power generation. Coal is combusted, stirred and mixed with limestone (desulphurization media) and air-fluidizing bed materials in a furnace. The combustion within the boiler is completed by circulating un-combusted coals. In comparison with a conventional coal-fired boiler, a CFB boiler's combustion is more efficient and offers various fuel options.

"We are excited about the test results and the potential that N-Viro Fuel has for use in our nation's coal-fired power plants." stated Mr. Kasmoch. "Coal fuels more than 40 percent of the world's electricity and 50 percent of U.S. electricity. New state-of-the-art technologies allow coal producers to produce electricity from coal that is cleaner than ever. Coal use has tripled in the past 30 years, while emissions have been reduced by about one-third. Tens of billions of dollars are being invested in state-of-the art technologies that will lead to continued environmental improvement and to the ultimate vision of near-zero emissions. We hope to be an integral part of the 150 new coal fired plants which are currently on the nation's drawing boards."

Dr. Terry J. Logan, a significant participant in the invention and development of the N-Viro Fuels Technology had these comments: "The successful full-scale test of the patented N-Viro Fuel Technology is the culmination of our research in waste-derived biomass solid-state fuels. The test demonstrates that our technology can successfully convert disparate organic waste, such as municipal sewage bio solids and animal derived manures into solid-state fuels that can be compatible with coal. Our work anticipated the current interest in renewable biomass fuels."

N-Viro International will release additional testing results in the upcoming year. Shareholders can sign up for the Company newsletter at: http://nviro/com/newsletter

Patent Abstract:

A process is provided for NOx, removal at coal burning power plants, which includes introducing ammonia that is liberated upon drying a mixture of organic waste, coal combustion by-products, and optionally lime, having a pH of at least 9.5, to a coal burner in the power plant. A process is also provided for fueling a coal burner of a power plant with coal and a dried mixture of organic waste and coal combustion by-products. The present invention is further directed to the dried mixture of organic waste and coal combustion by-products made by the processes of the present invention, which may optionally be used as a soil additive or as a supplemental fuel.
