Epson America Expands Its Top-Selling Line of Business/Education Projectors with Two New Models: Epson PowerLite 822p and 77c

LONG BEACH, Calif., May 1 -- Epson America, Inc. has expanded its offerings for the education and corporate markets with the announcement of two new multimedia projectors: the Epson® PowerLite® 822p and 77c. Both models are engineered by Epson, the number-one selling brand of front projectors worldwide(1), to deliver more vibrant, brilliant-looking images through the use of the latest generation of High Aperture Epson 3LCD (three-chip) imaging technology and XGA resolution. However, each projector also has other unique features that make them more specialized for certain types of presenters and environments.

The PowerLite 822p is optimized for education/classroom settings and features a seven-watt speaker, a built-in closed captioning decoder, and brightness level up to 2,600 ANSI lumens. Meanwhile, the PowerLite 77c achieves up to 2,200 ANSI lumens of brightness and offers XGA resolution at value even the smallest business can afford. The PowerLite 822p is priced at $1,099 and the 77c at $749 (estimated street prices).

"Whether you're presenting a critical lecture to students or arming your sales team to exceed this quarter's forecast, success is oftentimes dependent upon how well you can deliver presentations that engage and captivate your audience," said Daniel Oey, group product manager, Epson America, Inc. "Featuring a powerful combination of brightness, performance and versatility, the PowerLite 822p and 77c enable presenters to deliver the best possible presentation experience regardless of the environment."

Key Features of the PowerLite 822p

The PowerLite 822p makes it easy to deliver brilliant presentations to any classroom or office setting with 2,600 lumens of brightness, XGA resolution and a range of easy-to-use features:

o Built-in Closed Captioning -- Features a built-in closed captioning
decoder for hearing impaired students; offers schools and organizations
a low-cost solution for meeting part of their ADA508 requirements
without having to purchase and install external decoders

o 7-Watt Speaker -- Provides distinctly clear sound with enough volume to
fill an entire classroom; helps to capture and maintain the attention
of students; saves costs by eliminating the need to purchase and mount
additional speakers

o Network Monitoring and Control -- Offers RJ-45 wired LAN connectivity
for remote monitoring and control via a school's IT network, regardless
of the physical location of the projector

o Supports HDTV -- Enables educators to show high-definition materials to
captivate the attention of students; supports HDTV (720p, 1080i)

o Flexible Positioning -- Features a 1.2x power zoom lens that can
project a large and clear image from either long or short throw
distances

o Remote-Free Control -- Enables remote-free control of installed
projectors with convenient direct power on/off controls designed to
work with the room's power source

Key Features of the PowerLite 77c

Designed for versatility, the Epson PowerLite 77c offers 2,200 lumens, XGA resolution, and a range of features that enable professionals to deliver high-quality multimedia presentations:

o Supports HDTV -- Flexible enough to use for business during the day and
to take home and watch television in high-definition; supports HDTV
(720p, 1080i)

o A/V Mute Slide -- Provides greater control over presentations with the
ability to instantly turn off sound and images

o Flexible Positioning -- Features a 1.2x power zoom lens that can
project a large and clear image from either long or short throw
distances

o Security for Presenting Anywhere -- A four-digit password provides
added security for taking the projector on the road or making
presentations in public places; the projector powers off if an
incorrect password is entered multiple times, making a stolen projector
unusable

Epson Cost of Ownership Advantages

The PowerLite 822p and 77c feature Epson's E-TORL(TM) lamp technology which allows these projectors to achieve more efficient lumens (brightness) per watt and relatively lower overall power consumption than many of their respective competitive models. Based upon the projector's efficient wattage and relatively low power consumption, schools and businesses may save on energy costs. This technology also allows the lamp on both projectors to last up to 4,000 hours for added cost savings.

Epson 3LCD Technology Benefits

Epson's new PowerLite projectors use the latest generation of High Aperture Epson 3LCD technology, featuring a three-chip engine that delivers natural color and more intense, sharper images. The solid-state optical engine works without a moving color wheel, producing precise color reproduction with full time color, and detailed video and data images that are crisp and rainbow-free.

Brighter Futures(TM) -- Epson's Education Program
