Multi-Axis Motion Controller has integrated digital amps.

Press Release Summary:

With multi-processor distributed architecture, SPiiPlusCM utilizes Pentium-compatible MPU as main engine and second-generation servo processor as real-time control. Standard controller implements PIV Filter, automatic velocity feedforward, acceleration feedforward, notch and second order low pass filter, digital current control, and automatic, sinusoidal commutation on all axes at 20 kHz. It operates on supply voltages from single- or 3-phase 110-240 Vac and 24-120 Vdc.

SPiiPlus Control Module (CM) is the combination of an advanced multi-axis motion controller and integrated digital servo amplifiers. Specifically designed to answer the most demanding needs of present and future equipment, the SPiiPlusCM's integrated design is perfectly suited for stage manufacturers, systems integrators and OEM's. The new low voltage version is the ideal solution for those looking to optimize the performance of their low voltage linear motors.

The heart of the SPiiPlusCM is a multi-processor distributed architecture. The main engine is a Pentium compatible Motion Processing Unit (MPU). The real time control is the second-generation servo processor (SPii) developed by ACS-Tech80. The SPii provides a 120MHz RISC processor core with peripherals that meet the needs of demanding motion control applications, all contained within a single chip. The standard controller implements a PIV Filter, automatic velocity feedforward, acceleration feedforward, notch and second order low pass filter, digital current control and automatic, sinusoidal commutation on all axes at 20 kHz.

All SPiiPlus controllers support time and frequency-based tuning and Convolve Input ShapingTM. The capabilities of the SPiiPlus controllers also include multi-axis interpolation, inverse kinematics, PV spline motion, tight trajectories, position and I/O synchronization, SIN/COS encoder inputs, sub-nanometer resolution and superior position and velocity accuracy and stability.

The integrated drives are software configurable for both brushless and brushed servo motors. Operating on supply voltages from single or three phase 110-240 VAC and now 24-120 VDC, the SPiiPlus CM universal digital drives output current levels of 5A cont./10A peak or 10A cont./20A peak (sine wave amplitude). In addition, the SPiiPlusCM has pulse and direction outputs that allow three of the total axes to be open loop steppers.

The CM can operate as a standalone unit or can communicate with devices via RS-232/422/485 serial channels (115,000 bps) or Ethernet 10/100 BaseT. Communication with the controller through all channels can be done simultaneously.

Windows tools including a Motion Simulator are provided for tuning and troubleshooting the Control Module. C/C++/VB/COM based function libraries are available for Windows (98/ME/NT/2000/XP) and real-time operating systems (Venturecom RTX and On-Time). Every controller meets stringent safety and EMC standards and is CE And CSA approved.
