Bosch Expands IP Network Product Line with Two New MPEG-4 Multi-Channel Units

Eindhoven (Netherlands)

Bosch Security Systems has expanded its family of IP network video products. The new 8-channel VideoJet 8008 and VideoJet 8004 offer DVD-quality real-time video combined with efficient use of bandwidth for a compact solution wherever multi-camera transmission and recording is required. These products are intended for a wide range of security applications including highway management, transportation, correctional facilities, casinos, government, university and business campuses and large retail stores.

Bosch's VideoJet 8008 and VideoJet 8004 encoders offer simultaneous multi-channel capability through eight non-multiplexed MPEG-4 video streams over a Gigabit Ethernet connection. The VideoJet 8008, the first multi-channel unit to offer dual streaming, offers a maximum data rate of 30 frames/second at 4CIF to produce superior resolution. The VideoJet 8004 offers a choice of 15 frames/second at 4CIF or 30 frames/second at 2CIF for a more cost-effective solution where needed. The encoders can be configured as single-unit, 19-inch rack-mount or desktop units, and are available with optional audio capability. Both feature ten alarm inputs plus multicasting and Internet streaming.

The VideoJet 8008 and VideoJet 8004 are part of a complete line of IP network video products for video and audio streaming, recording, playback and archiving. Each product integrates seamlessly with existing analog products and networks. Compared with converting to all digital products, this offers users substantial cost savings by preserving their existing investments.

Bosch's IP products can also be used to build complex digital networks or migrate from analog to digital one piece at a time, based on the user's needs.

The units' integrated 120, 240, 600 or 800 GB hard disks provide full DVR functionality and pre-alarm recording. When used with Bosch's Network Video Recorder (NVR), seamless recordings are ensured, even if the network has been down, due to Bosch's unique patent-pending Automatic Network Replenishment (ANR) technology. While conventional NVRs experience gaps in the recordings caused by network interruptions, Bosch's NVR uses ANR to automatically replenish those gaps using the encoders' locally buffered recording.

Video can be received and displayed with a standard web browser or VIDOS video management software or on a bank of analog monitors using the new high- performance VIP XD decoder which features a robust MPEG-4 engine to convert high-quality digital, up to 30 frames/second, into analog for viewing.
