Motors employ rare earth magnets.

Press Release Summary:

RE-max 0.94 in. dia motors employ rhombic moving coil design with ironless rotors, which allow for zero cogging. Four versions are available with metal or graphite brushes and single or double shafts. Power ranges vary from 6.5 to 11 W, and continuous torque is rated to 1.7 oz-in. (max). Ambient temperature range is from -22 to 185 deg F, and maximum efficiency is up to 90% depending on the winding.

24 MM MOTOR WITH RARE EARTH MAGNETS

Provides cost-effective high performance

Burlingame, CA-Maxon's new RE-max 24 mm (0.94 in) diameter motors deliver the performance and lifetime of a moving coil motor with Neodymium magnets, but at a reduced cost due to improved automated manufacturing processes. The patented rhombic moving coil design provides for long life, low electrical noise, fast acceleration and high efficiency. The ironless rotor allows for zero cogging and simple, accurate control.

Four versions are available with metal or graphite brushes and single or double shafts, while power ranges from 6.5 to 11 watts. Maximum continuous torque is up to 12.4 mNm (1.7 oz-in). The motors weigh in at 71 g (2.5 oz) and the length (excluding shaft) is 31.9 mm (1.25 in). Ambient temperature range is from -30 to 85 deg C (-22 to 185 deg F), while the maximum efficiency is up to 90% depending on the winding. Other options include ball bearings/sleeve bearings and terminals/leads. Several different windings are available to match desired speed with available voltage.

Due to their high performance and cost-effective price, Maxon's RE-max 24 mm motors are particularly suitable for a variety of applications including miniature pumps, surgical devices, air samplers, printers/labelers, robotics, and laser measuring devices.

Maxon designs, manufactures, and markets fractional horsepower moving coil DC motors & brushless motors ranging in size from 6 to 75 mm (0.2" to 3") and from 0.5 to 500 watts. We also have an extensive selection of gearheads, encoders, and control electronics to complement our motors.
