AmpFlow's New High Performance Microcontroller-based Motor Controller

April 27, 2005 - Belmont, CA - AmpFlow, Inc. suppliers of DC motors and motor controllers for military, industrial, entertainment, recreational, and mobile robotic applications, announces the AmpFlow Microcontroller-based Motor Controller. The high performance AmpFlow controller supplies up to 180 Amps per channel at 12 to 40 volts. It features multiple command input modes for use with either radio control receivers or analog devices such as industrial or gaming joysticks. Computers and microcontrollers can also easily interface via the serial port. Designed for easy installation where space and weight are factors, the new controller is compact (7" x 5.5" x 1.5") and lightweight (3.4 pounds).

Full forward and reverse operation of two independent motors/wheels is made possible by the controller's dual H-bridges. The two channels can be operated independently or mixed together for "tank style" steering. A single channel option is also available with double the rated current. A third channel controls an independent 2 Amp switched output for a clutch, brake, or other device. All AmpFlow motor controllers can be operated in open or closed-loop speed mode. Motors may also be operated as heavy-duty position servos using optical encoders or low-cost position sensors. The controller features automatic stop in case of command loss, safe power-on start, and over-current and overheat protection. The high performing AmpFlow controller is fitted with heavy, 8-gauge cables for direct connection to high current batteries and motors.

Several inputs are available for connecting switches or sensors via AmpFlow's unique15-pin connector. The controller may also be connected to a PC to enable data capture, storage, and configuration of parameters using the included serial-port cable and the convenient graphic computer interface. The AmpFlow controller is ideal for robotic and industrial applications that require high power in an economical and compact package.
