New Developer's Kit Decreases Development Time, Increases Flexibility for Designers
Lincoln, MA - Performance Motion Devices, Inc. announces the NEW Magellan(TM) Motion Processor Developer's Kit. This integrated board and software package allows designers to evaluate and exercise the PMD Magellan Family of Motion Processors, and shortens the design time for engineers who are interested in building sophisticated motion control applications. Designed with surface mount technology, the kit provides multiple axis motion control for DC brush, brushless DC, microstepping, and pulse and direction motors.
The Magellan Motion Processor Developer's Kit consists of a four-axis surface-mount PCI motion card, interconnection cables, and a CD-ROM containing software and documentation. By interfacing to an external amplifier and motor via two 50-pin header connectors, the user can create a complete motion system. The board provides user selectable profiling modes including S-curve, trapezoidal, velocity contouring and electronic gearing. It performs motor output signal generation (PWM, analog, and pulse & direction), servo loop closure for DC brush and brushless DC motors, and provides PLC-style inputs and outputs for custom applications control. Other advanced features of the Magellan DK card include separately programmable
acceleration and deceleration values, parallel I/O CANbus, serial point-to-point, multi-drop host communications, dual-loop encoder input, bi-quad servo filtering, multiple profile breakpoints, and on-card servo trace.
Included with the developer's kit is PMD's C-Motion(TM) Application Programming Interface (API) consisting of C-Source code for developing applications using the Navigator Motion Processors. This API can be used to write sophisticated user applications with standard C and C++ language commands. The developer's kit also includes PMD's powerful Pro-Motion® exerciser program, a sophisticated, easy to use Windows® -based program that allows the user to quickly exercise the motion hardware.
The Magellan Motion Processor Developer's Kit can be used as a platform to develop software, as a stand-alone chipset exerciser/test bed, or as a general-purpose motion development system. It can also be used as a tool for developing and debugging application code. It is available now for $995.00.
