Yaskawa Electric Declares Perfection

Waukegan, Illinois -- Yaskawa Electric announces another new product to heighten the performance of the servo family, the LEGEND-MC single-axis Ethernet motion controller. The LEGEND-MC is the perfect addition to Yaskawa's LEGEND Digital Torque Amplifier series and was specially designed with the amplifier in mind. A mating connector on the side of both components quickly links all interface signals when the two are snapped together. No wiring or interface cables are required for encoder, alarms, command or control signals. The two truly become one.

The LEGEND-MC provides several modes of operation, including point-to-point positioning and following of external devices via gear ratio or cam profile. The high performance of the LEGEND-MC and LEGEND digital torque amplifier are perfectly matched and utilized to the fullest extent through the use of advanced tuning
techniques such as notch and band pass filtering. No battery is required. All program and data are stored in flash memory.

Communication with other devices is limitless with the standard Ethernet connection. Programs and data can be downloaded, and any information within the controller can be monitored from anywhere in the world over the Internet. Even firmware upgrades can be performed over Ethernet. Modbus commands over Ethernet TCP/IP or UDP/UP can also be utilized to control Modbus I/O. The LEGEND-MC functions equally well with either rotary or linear motors while handling local I/O and remote I/O over the standard Ethernet connection.

The programming style is made simple. A comprehensive, two-character command set provides the user with over 100 powerful tools for programming in a BASIC environment, complete with subroutines and IF, ELSE, ENDIF structure. Yaskawa provides an SMC development environment called "YTerm" for programming, debugging and monitoring the application.
