Original Press Release:

The New Kontron 786LCD/mITX: Mini-ITX Board With a 733 MHz Intel® Celeron® Processor

A Familiar Processor on a New Form Factor

Hørsholm, Denmark / Eching, Germany, September 27, 2005 - Kontron, one of the world's largest embedded computer technology companies, is today launching the new 786LCD/mITX embedded mini-ITX motherboard, the fourth in its Embedded Mini-ITX motherboard series. The board is designed to offer low power consumption and high value for money and is aimed at the high volume/low cost application segment of the embedded Mini-ITX market, in industries such as gaming, point of information, point of sale, data communications and medical equipment.

The 786LCD/mITX motherboard is equipped with a Low Voltage 733 MHz Intel® Celeron® processor (256K L2 cache) and is based on the Intel 815E embedded chipset. A version of the 786LCD/mITX to support the Ultra Low Voltage Intel Celeron 400MHz processor with passive cooling is in the pipeline.

The 786LCD/mITX is designed for long-term use in embedded applications and offers a combination of attractive features. The board has a Low Voltage (and soon the option of an Ultra Low Voltage) CPU, directly soldered onto the board for greater reliability. 256MB of directly soldered SDRAM is supplied as standard and is capable of supporting an extra 256MB in the DIMM socket. The 786LCD/mITX offers two LCD display support options: it can support both the popular LVDS and DVI interfaces. Three 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports are offered to cater for networking requirements and the board carries two ATA100 and two SATA150 IDE interfaces. Six USB2.0 and four RS232C ports, together with two IEEE 1394 interfaces offer exceptional expansion possibilities. Remote hardware monitoring with Kontron API interface software rounds out the feature set.

Sample 786LCD/mITX boards are available from September 2005.
