Radisys LS855 Low Power Micro ATX Embedded Motherboard - One of First to Support Intel® Pentium® M Processor 745

The Endura LS855 offers a long life solution for low power, embedded applications. It is now available with a range of scalable, long life Intel® Pentium® M and Celeron® M processors.

TOKYO, Japan - July 7, 2004 - Today at ESEC, RadiSys Corp. (Nasdaq: RSYS) announced that its Endura LS855 is one of the industry's first standard microATX embedded motherboard to support the Intel® Pentium® M processor 745, one of Intel's latest mobile processors to be manufactured using 90-nanometer process technology. The LS855 is a member of RadiSys' Endura family of embedded motherboards, which are used in transaction terminals, industrial automation, test and measurement, medical and gaming applications.

OEMs designing a variety of systems that require long life and low power operation are looking for scalable solutions that can be used in applications ranging from ticket machines, kiosks, gaming machines, video conferencing systems to portable medical equipment. With the addition of the high performance Intel Pentium M processor 745 and the entry-level Intel® Celeron® M processor at 1.30 GHz to the choice of supported processors along with the Intel Pentium M processor at 1.60 GHz, customers can now choose from a range of long life, scalable processors to suit the price / performance needs of their application.

"Expanding the capabilities of the Endura family of embedded motherboards is further proof of our commitment to Intel technology," said Richard Smith, vice president, commercial segment and quality, at RadiSys. "The LS855 builds on our promise of offering customers leading edge embedded solutions that help them develop better products faster and more economically."

"With RadiSys extending their support of the Intel® processor line to included the Intel® Pentium® M processor 745, they will be able to offer additional innovative solutions that satisfy the demanding performance and power needs of embedded customers," said Ton Steenman, general manager, Embedded Intel Architecture Division, Intel Corporation.

Using 90-nanometer process technology, Intel has doubled the transistor count on the Intel Pentium M processor 745 to 140 million transistors. This in turn has enabled Intel to double the L2 cache to 2MB. With this large, power optimized L2 cache and other architectural enhancements, the Intel Pentium M processor 745, which has a clock speed of 1.80 GHz, offers faster execution of instructions at lower power consumption.

The RadiSys Endura product line includes motherboards that incorporate a variety of Intel processors ranging from low power Intel Pentium M and Celeron M processors through scalable Intel® Pentium® 4 and Celeron® processors to high performance dual Intel® Xeon(TM) processors.
