MOST® Cooperation Exhibits at "Electronic Systems for Vehicles" VDI Congress

Demonstration of Seamless Integration Capabilities of Ethernet-based Devices with MOST

Karlsruhe (Germany) - The MOST Cooperation (MOSTCO) - the standardization organization for the leading automotive multimedia network Media Oriented Systems Transport (MOST) - will exhibit the latest highlights at the 15th International VDI Congress "Electronic Systems for Vehicles" on October 12-13, 2011 in Baden-Baden (Germany). With MOST150 being one step before rollout, MOSTCO demos at stand 75 will focus on the seamless integration capabilities of Ethernet based devices with MOST. On October 12, 2011 at 5:45 PM, Stephan Esch, AUDI AG, and Stefan Wachter, Daimler AG, will present "MOST150 - Technology Validation and Series-Production Readiness". After reporting on evaluation and results of common activities by Audi and Daimler, the presenters will speak about know-how and lessons learned from running MOST150 serial development. They will conclude with their perspective on possible future MOST applications.

The focus of the MOSTCO demos at stand 75 will be on the seamless integration capabilities of Ethernet based devices with MOST. "In addition to transporting high-definition audio and video within the car, MOST150 provides an automotive-ready physical layer for Ethernet," stated Dr. Christian Thiel, MOST Cooperation Administrator. "This way, MOST is open to a broad variety of IP-based applications such as connected services and Internet access. Further included will be various aspects and application features based on MOST150." Looking at the expanding areas of automotive use cases, one aspect will be on meeting the demand of the growing variety of consumer electronic devices in the car.

About MOST Technology

MOST (Media Oriented Systems Transport) is a multimedia networking technology optimized for use in cars and other applications. It enables the transport of high Quality of Service audio and video together with packet data and real-time control over a single transmission medium. MOST can use plastic optical fibers (POF), coax based electrical physical layer, and shielded and unshielded twisted pair (STP/UTP) copper wires, that meet automotive environmental requirements. Today MOST is used in over 105 car models as the communication backbone for their information and entertainment equipment.

About MOST Cooperation

The MOST Cooperation is the organization through which MOST Technology is standardized and refined so that it continues to stay abreast of the latest industry requirements. Today it consists of 16 international carmakers and more than 60 key component suppliers. They have joined together to work with the MOST Technology and to contribute to its innovation. The MOST Cooperation is prepared to embrace efforts to further develop and standardize the technology for other industries and to establish the corresponding work structures. The MOST Cooperation was founded in 1998 to standardize MOST Technology as a global standard for multimedia networking. Audi, BMW, Daimler, HARMAN and SMSC are its core partners and constitute its Steering Committee. For more information see www.mostcooperation.com.
