Monochrome Video Cameras suit machine vision applications.

Press Release Summary:

Model CSB4000CL is equipped with Camera Link interface, while Model CSB4000F offers IEEE1394 FireWire output. Both are built around 4-megapixel CMOS sensor with 12.048 x 12.282 mm image area and 6.0 x 6.0 µm pixels. Standard frame rate of 7.4 fps is increased with up to 16 arbitrary rectangular windows of interest. In addition to random trigger shutter, cameras offer synchronous electronic shutter control that exposes all pixels simultaneously for frame-on-demand acquisition.

Toshiba Teli Unveils Four-Megapixel CMOS Machine Vision Cameras

IRVINE, CA, March 2, 2005 - Toshiba Teli America, Inc., the North American subsidiary of the Toshiba Teli Corporation, today introduced its innovative CSB4000 series of machine vision cameras, extending the scope of CMOS camera capabilities with ultra-high resolution, FireWire® or Camera Link® output, full-frame global shutter, and WOI (window of interest) functionality.

Two models make up the CSB4000 series: the CSB4000CL, a monochrome video camera with Camera Link interface, and the CSB4000F monochrome video camera with IEEE1394 FireWire output. Both are ideal for high-end machine vision, factory automation, microscopy and quality control.

Bringing brilliant resolution to high-speed image acquisition, CSB4000 cameras are built around a four-megapixel CMOS sensor (2008H x 2047V) with a 12.048mm x 12.282mm image area and 6.0µm x 6.0µm pixels. Standard frame rate of 7.4 frame/second is significantly increased with the selection of up to 16 arbitrary rectangular windows of interest (WOI), optimizing performance by defining a region of interest of any size within the field of view. This functionality maximizes frame rate while minimizing the bulk of data that is transferred across the bus. In addition, the cameras offer subsampling of a WOI to allow faster frame rates at a lower resolution. For example, by omitting every odd pixel and/or line, the frame rate is quadrupled while field of view is maintained.

In addition to random trigger shutter, CSB4000 cameras boast a global (synchronous) electronic shutter control that exposes all pixels simultaneously for frame-on-demand acquisition. Other shared features include high dynamic range, >50dB signal/noise ratio, and C-Mount lens mount. Both cameras ship with data cable, tripod mounting kit and IR cut filter.

FireWire or Camera Link Output
For the CSB4000F, plug-and-play operation is achieved through the camera's FireWire (IEEE 1394) interface. CSB4000F cameras connect to a PC via a single FireWire cable that supplies both power and high-speed data transmission (400 Mbps). This connectivity eliminates the need for frame grabbers, plus enables the camera to operate right out of the box with any system that supports the FireWire specification. The CSB4000F measures 54mm (W) x 43mm (H) x 94.5mm (D), weighing in at 220g.

The CSB4000CL employs a high-speed Camera Link® digital interface perfect for today's image data transmission requirements. Functions such as gain, shutter and subsampling are controlled through an industry-standard Camera Link cable, plus the CSB4000CL is compatible with virtually all frame grabbers, connectors, data formats and control signals based on the Camera Link standard. Ideal for space-sensitive applications, the CSB4000CL measures a mere 54mm (W) x 43mm (H) x 59mm (D), and weighs just 160g.
