Marathon Electric Introduces the Motor PhD(TM)
WAUSAU, WI - Marathon Electric Manufacturing Corporation, a subsidiary of REGAL-BELOIT CORPORATION, has just introduced a predictive maintenance device called the Motor PhD(TM) that monitors machinery temperature and vibration. The Motor PhD(TM) is designed to provide advance warning and control of equipment that could lead to unscheduled downtime. It detects vibration conditions that indicate potential misalignment, or bearing failure and temperature levels in excess of user-defined limits.
Red, yellow, and green LED indicates warning, alarm, or fault status. The Motor PhD(TM) monitoring system includes the processing module with removable cover, a 15 ft. signal cable with molded sensor connector, the dual-function vibration and temperature sensor, and an integral stud mounting pad with adhesive. The monitoring system can operate in stand-alone mode, or with additional software, it can be upgraded to a network mode. The network mode allows maintenance personnel to monitor the equipment conditions off-site as well as collect temperature and vibration data for trend analysis.
