Stanley Vidmar Introduces A New Modular Workstation

The Auto Technician's Center is a modular storage system and workbench that serves up to four technicians in any industry.

Allentown, PA, Feb 1, 2006 -- The new Stanley Vidmar Automotive Technician's Center (ATC) combines drawer storage, bulk storage, and work benching for up to four workers and their tools. And it does so while helping maintain a neat and orderly look on the shop floor. Although it was originally developed to serve auto dealerships, the ATC will earn its keep in any industry, from automotive to fleet and aircraft maintenance, to plant maintenance.

The ATC can be custom-configured to meet the needs of any user. It consists of a free-standing or wall-mounted base unit, as well as wall-mounted overhead cabinets. Customers can order the base with any combination of cabinets, drawers, or compartments for hose reels and cords. Freestanding versions include stainless steel leveling feet. Overhead cabinets offer a choice of sliding or recessed doors, and can even include a computer shelf.

Drawers units come in a range of heights and widths, and can be organized with factory-installed partitions or dividers. Full-extension, ball-bearing drawer slides let users view the entire contents of each drawer, and are available in 200 or 400 lb. capacities. Full width, recessed drawer pulls are easy to grip and snag free.

The top several inches of drawer and hose-reel units are angled away from the face of the cabinet. With a drawer unit, this creates a V-shaped pocket behind the front of the top drawer for storing long tools. (The pocket is shaped like the tip-out tray on the fronts of some kitchen sink cabinets.) In a hose reel unit, the angled top lets hoses hang freely.

Customers can choose from three work surfaces: hardwood, stainless steel, or painted steel. When the ATC is mounted to the wall, an optional backsplash with an integrated wire chase can cover the space between the base and the overhead cabinets. All standard Vidmar colors are available, making the finished unit compatible with other Vidmar storage solutions, for a consistent service floor look.
