Zimbra Cuts the Wire With Zimbra Mobile

Zimbra Mobile Eliminates the Need for Big Mobile License Fees and Provides Support for Leading Symbian(TM), Palm(TM) and Windows Mobile(TM) Devices

SAN MATEO, Calif., Aug. 14 /-- Zimbra, the leader in open source, next-generation collaboration and messaging software, today announced the launch of Zimbra Mobile. Zimbra Mobile is the first integrated mobile offering for open source collaboration that includes support for a range of phones, smart phones and PDAs. Zimbra Mobile provides over the air synchronization of messaging, calendaring and address books. Zimbra Mobile leverages native synchronization software on these devices, and dramatically reduces the cost and complexity of providing rich mobility to end-users.

"With Zimbra Mobile, we are expanding our commitment to ensure that users have access to their information on the road no matter if they are using a personal computer with a browser or a mobile phone," said Satish Dharmaraj, Zimbra co-founder and CEO. "AJAX and over the air mobile synchronization technologies give organizations and service providers the flexibility to provide anywhere, anytime access to critical information and resources to anyone."

Zimbra extended its leading collaboration and messaging solution to a variety of mobile platforms in response to requests from the fast-growing Zimbra community. Zimbra Mobile is available to users of the Symbian, Palm and Windows Mobile devices. Zimbra Mobile includes support for leading devices provided by Nokia(TM), Motorola(TM), Samsung(TM), Palm Treo(TM) and more. In addition, Zimbra Mobile optionally includes support for RIM Blackberry(TM) and other devices through third-party partnerships.

"Zimbra Mobile is attractive to us because, unlike other mobile messaging platforms we evaluated, it does not require changes to our infrastructure, additional licensing costs, and client software that must be installed to every user's device," said Camden Johnson, Unix Systems Administrator, Ernest Health Inc. "Zimbra is providing us with the functionality we want in a seamless upgrade, such as Zimbra Mobile integrated into ZCS 4.0."

A few examples of devices supported by Zimbra Mobile/ZCS 4.0 are:
-- Motorola Q
-- Nokia E60, E61
-- Palm Treo 700w, 700p and 650
-- Nokia N80
-- T-Mobile(TM) SDA
-- Blackberry 7130 and 8700

"With Zimbra Mobile, I was able to get my Motorola Q syncing with Zimbra mail, calendar and contacts before I even left the cellular phone store," said John Robb, Zimbra VP of Marketing and Product Management. "I did not have to deal with the headaches of installing special software on my phone or licensing additional server software."
