Mobile Reverberation Chambers feature plug-and-play design.

Press Release Summary:

Suited for small equipment under test (EUT), RVC 2XS and RVC XS feature respective internal dimensions of 1.5 x 0.8 x 1.0 m and 2.7 x 1.5 x 1.3 m, test volumes of 0.5 x 0.3 x 0.5 m and 1.2 x 1.0 x 0.8 m, and start frequencies of ~800 and ~500 MHz. Both RF test chambers, intended for automotive, military, and commercial applications, act as shielded room with stirrer that changes resonant electromagnetic field distribution inside chamber to produce statistically uniform field.

Turnkey Reverberation Chambers from Teseq Offer High Performance, Portability

Compact RF test chambers ideal for automotive, military and commercial applications

Edison, N.J. - Teseq Inc., a leading developer and provider of instrumentation and systems for EMC emission and immunity testing, now offers two new reverberation chambers (RVC) that further expand its already extensive test chamber portfolio. The RVC 2XS and RVC XS feature high performance and portability in a compact RF test chamber. Both models are ideal for automotive, military and commercial applications.

Specifically designed to accommodate small equipment under test (EUT), the two new RVCs eliminate the need for a traditional chamber that is larger and more expensive. Both models are on wheels for easy mobility and feature a plug-and-play design. Each RVC is factory-tested prior to being shipped.

Providing an alternative to semi- or full anechoic rooms (SAR/FAR), open area test sites (OATS) or gigahertz transverse electromagnetic (GTEM) cells, the new RVCs act as a shielded room with a 'stirrer' that changes the resonant electromagnetic field distribution inside the chamber, producing a statistically uniform field.

The operating frequency range of a reverberation chamber is limited by its dimensions and stirrer design. The smaller model, RVC 2XS, has an internal size of 1.5 m x 0.8 m x 1.0 m and a test volume of 0.5 m x 0.3 m x 0.5 m with a start frequency of about 800 MHz. The larger model, RVC XS, has an internal size of 2.7 m x 1.5 m x 1.3 m, resulting in a test volume of 1.2 m x 1.0 m x 0.8 m and a start frequency of about 500 MHz.

Both RVC models meet high field strength testing requirements and can be used as an alternative to absorber-lined chambers. In addition to immunity testing, RVCs are used for emission testing of material, cable and enclosure shielding.

The RVC 2XS and RVC XS are fully equipped with a stirrer designed and optimized for the intended frequency range in accordance with the requirements of the basic standards. The stirrer commands are provided in the user manual and enable easy implementation of the stirrer controller within any measurement software. Drivers and RVC application packages for Teseq's Compliance 5 EMC software are available.

Optimal mechanical stability of both RVCs is achieved through a rigid construction and an outside reinforced frame. Each chamber's interior has a completely flat, aluminum surface (no connective elements that are used for pan-type or sandwich construction) for optimal power and field performance. Field strengths of more than 100 V/m are easily achieved with 1 W applied to the transmitting antenna inside an empty chamber.

The new RVCs can also be used in non-EMC applications for the measurement of Total Radiated Power (TRP) and Total Isotropic Sensitivity (TIS) of antennas and mobile devices.

With its broad range of instruments, software and services, Teseq can provide complete turnkey reverberation chamber solutions to a variety of markets.
