Intermec Rugged Mobile Computer with Three-Radio Integration Now Certified for GPRS and CDMA Networks

First rugged mobile computer to support both GPRS and CDMA, allowing voice and data communications

Three integrated radios support Personal Area Networks (PAN), Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN)

EVERETT, Wash., April 11, 2003 - Expanding on the advanced connectivity and functionality of Intermec's 700 Series of rugged mobile computers, Intermec Technologies Corp. today introduced the Intermec 760 Color, the first rugged Pocket PC mobile computer to support both Global Packet Ready Service (GPRS) or Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) 1xRTT connectivity. This powerful range of communications options allows users to make voice calls and access enterprise data wirelessly through high-speed packet data networks.

"The 760's extended connectivity capabilities improve the quality of information moving throughout an enterprise, increase accuracy at the point of data collection and provide timely information - all factors that drive better decision making," said Rich Sherman, Intermec director of marketing for terminals and computers.

The Intermec 700 Color Series is the first family of rugged mobile computers to integrate up to three radio communication options in a single device, including a wireless local area (802.11b) radio, a GPRS/CDMA wide area network radio and a fully integrated power-managed Bluetooth(TM) radio. With an industry-standard platform that provides maximum processor, memory and storage resources, mobile workers can retrieve information and make solid business decisions while performing work in the field.

The 760 Color also is the first enterprise Pocket PC mobile computer to offer integrated imager options to read 1D and 2D bar codes and supports photography applications, including signature capture, making the 760 Color ideal for a wide range of mobile worker applications.
